Dan LaRusso is an award-winning
freelance photographer, and also the staff photographer for NACM
(National Association of Credit Management) in Columbia, Maryland. His
work has appeared in a number of publications and he exhibits in venues
around the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
Self-taught, Dan has developed his
art with the knowledge and experience gained from over 30 years of
shooting, extensive reading, discussions with fellow photographers and
his own appetite to try new things.
It started back when he got his first
35mm SLR camera while in college. He had always liked to draw and
paint, but as soon as he discovered how to manipulate aperture and
shutter speed for artistic effect, the camera became his creative tool
of choice.

A love of the outdoors makes
Dan turn to nature photography first. Too often, the natural beauty
that surrounds us is taken for granted—or worse—abused by ignorance and
indifference. By viewing his images, Dan hopes that people will gain
the same respect and passion for our environment that he has. He also
likes to explore the artistic possibilities of architecture, travel and
macro photography, as well as creating abstract images from just about
any object or scene.
Dan is a member and forum moderator
at Nikonians.org and a member of the International Freelance
Photographers Organization. He was born and raised in New York and
attended the University of Maryland. He currently resides in Berwyn
Heights, Maryland.
